EFG, London

For Swiss private banking firm EFG, the return to the office meant a complete refurbishment of their newly occupied top floors at Park House, in the centre of Mayfair, London.

Taking over 32,000 sqft across two floors, EFG appointed furniture dealers By-Bailey, with architects AIS and JAC to complete the fit-out. The brief was to create an attractive, well-functioning space that would encourage their staff back to the office for collaboration and reconnecting while providing the business with a place to meet their private banking clients.

BREEAM Excellent

Central to the design of Park House was achieving a sustainable, low environmental impact design using energy-efficient materials and technology. Park House, designed by Robin Partington Architects, was awarded BREAAM Excellent.

The story of Icons of Denmark’s involvement started with a visit in November 2021 from the team at EFG, accompanied by By-Bailey, to Icons showroom. Seeking products that encouraged EFG’s vision of designing a functional, open-plan space for their team, they chose a variety of Icons products that exemplified collaboration and comfort.

Two Smile low back on swivel base

The Space

As you enter the building, a brightly lit atrium reception area greets you. Two Smile Lounge low-back chairs are chosen for the client seating area as they wait to be greeted.

The chair’s posture allows guests to feel comfortable and upright, ensuring they are ready to make their first impression.

Continuing from reception, more Smile Lounge chairs can be seen dotted around the casual meeting settings and private lounge meeting rooms off the atrium. While being suitable for greeting spaces, the lounge chairs are also fitting for meeting settings; staff and guests can continue to be active in posture, allowing the person to remain engaged and focused for the duration of the meeting.

For the busier meeting rooms, the Smile Lounge is upholstered in Ultraleather, a high-performance fabric with the softness of traditional leather. Easy to maintain and long lasting due to its high quality, the fabric fits neatly around the contours of the Smile Lounge profile.

Within the small meeting rooms, the simple, yet elegant Spire coffee table has been selected in the oval version. For space saving, the oval shape ensures smooth movement around the table – avoiding sharp corners in tight spaces. A clean white Carrara marble for the tabletop keeps the aesthetic bright.

Centrally located within EFG’s office is the team canteen space. A combination of low Bank tables and high Woodstock tables are used to offer different options for dining.

Unique to this project is the selection of Woodstock High tables with a flipping mechanism. Specifically chosen for the dining area, the tables can be flipped and stored efficiently when the space is transformed into an open area for networking and team events.

Acting as both a partition and additional seating, the 4T System is specified for the dining area. Designed as an eight-sofa booth setting with tables, the configuration can be used as a meeting space for colleagues as well as a dining surface – demonstrating the system’s ability to provide multi-purpose, flexible workplace solutions.

Black RAL 9005 colour was used on the 4T System to keep the harmony throughout the building and match the existing joinery.
