Icons of Denmark featured in Aftenposten: When ‘hygge’ blends into the workplace

Jesper Jensen - Aftenposten The Norwegian newspaper Aftonbladet has published the article Hyggelig på kontoret: Visker ut grensene mellom jobb og hjemme about Icons of Denmark and the trend of 'hygge' blending into the workplace. As Jesper says, "we’ve seen the modern office becoming more like the home and the home turning into the office".

Designjunction 2016

 

GRID super facade by Icons of Denmark and Satellite Architects

Icons of Denmark are happy to have taken part in designjunction from 22 – 25 September 2016, the leading exhibition for contemporary interior design and culture to come alive as part of the annual London Design Festival.

With one of the most prominent stands in Cubitt House, where more than 100 leading design brands presented cutting-edge furniture, accessories and lighting, Icons of Denmark showcased a collection of carefully selected Danish designer pieces. The stand was listed by The Independent as one of 'Eight things to look out for at designjunction'

Already before stepping inside Cubitt House, visitors were immersed in design by Icons of Denmark, who in collaboration with leading architectural firm Satellite Architects, Oktra and Structural Engineer Elliott Wood created the world’s largest GRID installation for designjunction - a spectacular 70m long by 7m high façade for Cubitt House featuring more than 4,000 lightweight GRID modules designed by Danish Peter J. Lassen for GRIDsystem, provided by Icons of Denmark. Read more about the project here.

St. Patrick’s day 2016

Icons of Denmark hosted St. Patrick's day 2016, where our clients and partners came by to celebrate. We had a fantastic night full of Guinness, Flip Cup & dancing  and the showroom was filled with over 100 Paddys.

Clerkenwell Design Week

We will be showing new materials and finishes for our well known bestsellers and introduction of new pieces including prototypes of a new high back sofa.

Montana
We are showcasing a new Montana exhibition, focusing on storage categories specifically for workplace, library, wardrobe and meeting rooms in fresh new colours. Also including new colours for Verner Pantons first designed chair, Panton One.

GRID
After its introduction to the UK market at Clerkenwell Design Week 2014, Grid has been used in several amazing installations here in London.

Lighting
As a new category for Icons, we are introducing lighting in partnership with Danish brands Made by Hand and New Works – Objects of Copenhagen.

SketchUp Workshop

SketchUp is the world’s most popular 3D software for architects and designers. That’s why we have teamed up with SketchUp for Clerkenwell Design Week. The workshops will find place at our showroom the 19th, 20th and 21st. It will be 45 minutes sessions 3 times a day; at 9am, 11am and 2pm. Attendees are invited to come hear tips and tricks from SketchUp and 3D Warehouse experts. It's going to be fun!

“Where is Wally” Party

In Partnership with Hunters Contracts, Icons of Denmark hosted a Where's Wally theme event. We filled the showroom with 75 Wallys for a night full of Beer Bong, Flip Cup & Dancing.

Danish Christmas Dinner

The 10th of December 2014 Icons of Denmark celebrated Christmas by having a Danish Christmas dinner with architects and designers. It is a tradition in Denmark to get Herring with Currysalat as a starter and as main it is normal to get pork roast with roasted potatoes and red cabbage.  They got of course Danish Christmas beer and wine to the dinner.

LondonIcons of Denmark had at Halloween a Pumpkin Carving and Cocktails event at the showroom, where Architects and Designers came in and made funny and scary pumpkin heads. It was a really amusing and exciting evening.

From the first year of Icons of Denmark existence, we have used SketchUp as part of our work with MONTANA, GRID and our loose furniture and we continuously share our models with the 3D Warehouse community for ease of access to the A&D community. The Icons of Denmark 3D Warehouse library has now grown to become one of the largest databases on 3D Warehouse for Danish Design furniture.
The October 23rd, 2014 Icons of Denmark hosted a 3D seminar with a member of the SketchUp team Christopher Cronin. It was an eventfull evening.

Wok n Wine, September 17th 2014Wok+Wine started in November 2008 as a new way to get a diverse group of interesting people together in New York City for a night of great conversation, fueled by delicious food and amazing wine. Since its humble beginnings, Wok+Wine has quickly grown into a monthly gathering of some of the most inspiring, creative and connected people around the world.

Wok+Wine has been enjoyed by close to 3,000 people in New York, Venezuela, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Oslo, London, Madrid, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Vancouver, Melbourne, Sydney, Whangarei, Wellington and Auckland in New Zealand. Click here to see more pictures

Showroom opening, Clerkenwell design week, May 20th 2014

On May 20th and throughout Clerkenwell Designweek, we celebrated the opening of our new showroom as well as Icons of Denmark’s 5 year anniversary.
The showroom will be the first of its kind, dedicated to showcase the newest of Danish Design for commercial interiors in a new and lively setting. We showcast Montana and GRID systems, together with our collection of loose furniture from our Danish partners

By opening a showroom in Clerkenwell, dedicated to Danish Design for commercial interiors, we aim to improve Architects and Designers awareness and accessibility to new Danish Design, as well as create a new platform for Danish design talent and Danish manufactures to showcase their products. We have partnered with meeting space facilitator Headrooms, to create a "working" showroom, where our furniture, is in daily use by various users, quite similar to our own client’s environments" says Jesper Mollgaard Jensen, Owner of Icons of Denmark Ltd.
